Jim Kermode: 1955 – 2012

Earlier this week we received the sad news that Jim Kermode, Head of Construction at ASN Capital, passed away on 2nd January 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Jim worked with the team at ASN Capital in one capacity or another for over twenty years and was not only a colleague but also a valued friend. Although on a short period of leave he joined his colleagues for the office Christmas lunch on 23rd December, and we enjoyed his company unaware that this would be the last time we shared it.

At this time our thoughts, along with those of the many sub-contractors and suppliers that worked with him, are with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be sincerely missed.

Jim’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 11th January. His family have asked that no flowers be sent, but for donations to be made to Julia’s House children’s hospice.

ASN Capital hosts Fire Service training in Bournemouth

Today, Dorset Fire & Rescue Service carried out a training exercise at a property in Bournemouth recently purchased by ASN Capital. The large bungalow in Castle Lane West is now empty whilst preparations are made for its redevelopment.

This proved an ideal opportunity for local firefighters to sharpen their skills by searching the property in full breathing apparatus and blindfolds to reproduce the scenario of a smoke filled family home. The training exercise lasted for more than two hours and with three appliances in attendance drew a lot of attention from local residents and passing motorists.

Dave Prior, Watch Manager at Springbourne Fire Station, said “Opportunities to train in real family homes are hard to come by and our crews have learnt a great deal from this experience.”

Amir Sadeh, Director at ASN Capital said “At ASN Capital we are members of the local community and like to be good neighbours. So when the Fire Service asked to use our property to help with the life-saving training of fire crews we didn’t hesitate and look forward to offering them similar opportunities in the future.”
